• Do I need to register to use your site?
  You can use our website to run counts without setting up an account, but you must register to get a quote and make a purchase.
• How can I update my account information?
  To update your account information, please contact your Data Axle Canada representative or call 877.708.3844.
• I forgot my password. What can I do?

Canadian Consumer Data

• Can Data Axle Canada scrub the calling lists for subscribers to the National DNCL?
  Yes. The National DNCL Rules allow a subscriber to share the National DNCL, or any portion thereof, with a third party who provides services to help them comply with the National DNCL rules.
  
  To do this they will need:

  • The subscriber’s registration access number
  • The subscriber’s subscription access number
  • The subscriber’s download key for each subscription they will access

• Do the rules extend to telemarketers from outside of Canada?
  Yes. The rules apply regardless of where the call originates. Telemarketers calling Canadian consumers from outside of Canada must comply with the National Do Not Call List rules.
• Is any business exempt from DNCL?
  The Do Not Call List exempts Canadian registered charities, political parties, riding associations, candidates, pollsters, and newspapers of general circulation for the purpose of soliciting subscriptions. Telemarketing calls from organizations with whom residents have an existing business relationship are also exempt.
• What does it cost to subscribe to DNCL?

  There are two subscription options for accessing telephone numbers on the National DNCL: Query and Download.

  Query subscription lets you check up to 100 numbers at a time in any combinations of area codes to determine if those numbers are on the National DNCL.

  Download subscription lets you download a file containing a list of telephone numbers that are registered on the National DNCL to compare with your calling list. The download subscription is available for a 1-, 3-, 6-. or 12-month period. You can purchase the entire list for Canada, which includes the numbers registered in all of the area codes, or you can purchase only numbers contained in the area codes that cover your marketing territory. • What is National Do Not Call List?
  The National Do Not Call List (DNCL) is a list administered by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) that enables Canadian residents to decide whether or not to receive telemarketing calls.

• How often do I need to clean my data?
  Data enhancement ensures you have the most up-to-date information you need to reach your customers. In order to get the most value out of your list, our experts take a direct approach to improving your data. We take your existing list and scrub it against our records to shake out bad data and old contact information. We leave you with a fresh list that, in return, saves you time and money.
• What file types and sizes are supported by the data enhancement online tool (U.S. data only)?
  Our online tool can process spreadsheets that contain up to 50,000 rows and 100 columns; the maximum file size is 30MB. Acceptable file types are CSV, XLS, XLSX, and tab delimited. To enhance a larger file or Canadian data file, please call 877.708.3844.
• What information can I append to my current customer file?
  For business appends, you can add: company name and address, contact name, title, and gender, phone number, fax number, SIC code, employee size range, sales volume range, and website URL. The following data can be added with consumer appends: phone number, gender, marital status, home value, presence of children, location type, and income range.
• What is the turnaround time once my file has been uploaded?
  Depending on the file size, processing times can range from 3 to 5 days. Timeframes will vary for larger orders requiring the assistance of a marketing expert.

Direct Mail

• How long will it take to create and send my direct mail campaign?
  It generally takes 2–5 days to deploy a direct mail campaign. Your project’s specific design needs and the approval process may affect the timeline.
• I don’t have a design ready. Can you create one for me?
  Yes. You can choose from our predesigned postcard templates or have our professional designers create a custom postcard, brochure, or letter for you.
• What do I get with my direct mail campaign purchase?
  Your purchase covers the following costs:

  • Full-color or black-and-white printing of your postcard, brochure, or letter
  • Addressing and mailing the direct mail piece to your list

Email Campaigns (U.S. Emails Only)

• Can I get an HTML version of my message?
  Yes. Our designers can create an HTML version of your email at a rate of $100/hour. The average time to do so is 1–2 hours.
• Can I purchase a list of the people who opened and clicked through my email campaign?
  You may purchase a follow-up list that contains contact information for each individual who opened and clicked through your email.
• Can I see the results of my email campaign?
  Yes. A report detailing your open and response rates will be available 24 hours after campaign deployment.
• Do you offer Canadian email campaigns?
  No, we do not have Canadian emails. To comply with Canadian federal law, Data Axle Canada does not sell Canadian consumer emails. Canada’s anti-spam legislation (CASL) protects Canadian residents from internet spam and other electronic threats in commercial electronic messages (CEM). The federal law went into effect July 1, 2014. CASL covers emails with links to website, landing pages, and/or databases that have advertising; offers to sell, invest, or gamble; and/or personal promotion.
• How long will it take to create and send my email campaign?
  Most campaigns can be completed in 2–5 days. However, delays in any of the necessary steps—list building, design, and email approval—can negatively affect the project’s timeframe.
• How will my email campaign be delivered?
  The price of renting email addresses from us includes setup and delivery of your email message.
• I don’t have a design ready. Can you create one for me?
  Yes. You can choose from our predesigned email templates or have our professional designers create a custom email for you.
• What do I get with my email campaign purchase?
  • Program your email message using Multipart MIME format. (This allows recipients with text-only email to read your message.
  • Test your email and get your final approval before sending.
  • Send your email on your behalf.
  • Monitor, track, and report the open and response rates.
• Why does my campaign need to be approved by Data Axle USA?

• How accurate is your data?
  We go above and beyond the industry standard to ensure the data you access is as accurate and complete as possible. In fact, we invest more than $20 million annually and employ more than 250 full-time researchers to compile and verify the information in our databases. It’s this attention to detail that delivers consistently higher levels of accuracy and deliverability over the competition. We also recognize that no database can be perfect. Businesses are constantly closing, executives changing, and 20 percent of the consumer population moves every year. And while 100-percent accuracy is our goal, it is highly unlikely. Therefore, it is natural to receive a small amount of outdated information.
• How can I add my business or personal information to your databases?
  Click here to add or update your business listing. To protect consumers’ privacy, we are not able add information to our consumer database on request. Consumer records are updated upon receipt of local telephone directories.
• How do I remove my business record from your database?
  All Data Axle information is compiled from public sources. To remove your business information from our database, please send a removal request on company letterhead to the following address:

• How do you compile your databases?
  We compile our business database from a wide variety of sources, such as:

  • U.S. and Canadian directories
  • New business filings
  • Daily utility connections
  • Press releases
  • Corporate websites

• What are credit rating codes?
  We’ve developed a sophisticated computer model—which considers factors such as number of employees, years in business, industry stability, census data, and more—to assign practical and statistically sound credit ratings to each company in our business database.
• When can I expect to see the results of a business database add/change request?
  Business records must be verified over the phone before they can be added or changed in the database. This process can take up to 60 days.

Orders

• How quickly will I receive my list?
  Most list orders are delivered within minutes to the email address provided.
• In what format will my list be delivered?
  All lists are delivered electronically to you via the email address you provided. You can also choose to have your list delivered by CD-ROM, or as pre-printed prospects lists, 3×5 sales leads cards, or mailing labels (pressure-sensitive or Cheshire).
• What methods of payment do you accept?
